At 11:00 pm on the 13th of June 2017 , the students were sent to the College Main Hall in order to commemorate the College Day of St.Anthony’s College Kandy. It also served as the day for the promotion and selection of the school prefects. The simple but attractive decorations as well as the young Antonian gentlemen gave a pleasant greeting to the parents, teachers, invitees, Benedictine fathers, principal Rev.Fr.Henry Bernard Wijeyaratne and a grand personality the Bishop of Kandy Rt. Rev.Dr.Vianney Fernando. After a moment of prayer, hymn to St.Anthony, College Anthem and the lighting of the oil lamp, to continue the event Rev.Fr.Henry WIjeyaratne gave a short but impressive welcome speech and following it was a brief presentation on the school’s history. Then Rt.Rev.Fr Vianney Fernando was requested to take over the podium for a renowned speech. Though he whispered into the microphone, winds of advice and wisdom flowed into the crowd. Later on the Junior prefects were called on to the stage to achieve the posts of senior prefects followed by the assistant prefects as to announce the new head prefect and deputy head prefect. Finally the new batch of assistant prefects were given badges as they were new members of the board of discipline. The day was marked as one more out of a million successful events throughout this school’s history.
