Every year in honor of all the College’s great achievements of the year before, the prize giving is held. The 2016 Prize giving was celebrated on the 27th of October 2017 at 1:30pm in the college main hall. After the prize winners, parents and students took seat, the media announced the arrival of the invitees, Rev. Fr. Principal, Benedictine fathers and staff members, led by the Kandyan dancing troupe. As the audience kept standing in silence the eastern music troupe performed the welcome song followed by the lighting of the lamp. Tailing a moment of prayer from Very Rev.Fr. D. Shamindra Jayawardena came the hymn to St. Anthony and the College Anthem. Rev.Fr. Henry Bernard Wijerathne started off at the podium elaborating the achievements and success the school has gained through co-curricular activities, societies, examinations and gifted individuals. Once again a song was performed by an eastern music troupe duo which opened the doors to the distribution of prizes and medals. One of the major guests Mrs. Rathnayake was offered the chance of giving away the first batch of prizes. As the prize giving continued another guest, Mr. Danawardhana gave away another batch and in between Rt. Rev. Dr. Cletus Chandrasiri Perera OSB the Bishop of Rathnapura and the Chief Guest Dr. Asanka Rathnayake spoke out their words of encouragement and wisdom from their experiences through their speeches. An appropriate thank you speech was given by a former deputy head prefect to express our gratefulness to everyone who found time to spend on this occasion. All exited the auditorium, looking forward to seeing new faces on the stage at the sequel of the Prize giving 2017.
