St Peter’s College defeated St Anthony’s College Kandy by 27 points to 25 this evening at Bambalapitiya. At half time it was 24 – 15 in favour of the Peterites.
The match was played for the prestigious Rectors’ Trophy
St.Peter’s College kicked the game at their home. Antonian Flyhalf Samuel Maduwantha missed a penalty in the early stages of the game. However Master Kavinda Amarakoon of SACK scored the first try of the game for SACK. Once again Maduwantha missed the 2 points through Conversion. (SPC 00-05 SACK)
Peterites scored two tries in quick succession and they added some extras. (SPC 14-05 SACK)
Then Master Pulasthi Dassanayake of SACk scored a try with the help of the Skipper, Master Dinuk Amarasinghe. This time Maduwantha didn’t miss his chance. (SPC 14-12 SACK)
Then St.Peters’ received a Penalty and they converted it Successfully. And they came up once again with a long running try. (SPC 24-12 SACK)
Samuel Maduwantha added a penalty just before the half time to reduce the gap.

With the start of the Second Half, Both teams got a Penalty chance each and both the Teams converted it successfully. (SPC 24-18 SACK)
St Anthony’s had the momentum with them in the last moment of the game. Jehan Seelagama scored an important try for the SACK to reduce the Peterite lead. Maduwantha added the important points. In the last five minutes St. Peters missed two penalties from a kickable range but their defense was mind blowing. Finally with the blow of Whistle, the match concluded with the Points for SPC and a bonus point for SACK. (SPC 27-25 SACK)
